Laser & Arestin

laser

We have used multiple methods to remove the bacteria that invaded a difficult to clean location.

This FDA Approved laser treatment is technology we have many years experience with. In the past periodontal surgery was completed with more invasive and traumatic cutting and stitching procedures. Our laser works in a laparoscopic manner. This method reduces pain and improves healing times. The laser energy destroys bacterial infections and can be focused to remove subgingival calculus with no “surgical incisions”.

Expect 2 days of soreness that 2 or 3 Advil or 2 Tylenol can support. There will be a slight swelling that resolves in less than 3 days. An adhesive will be applied to the local area, this helps seal out bacteria and keep good healing factors in place. The antibiotic placed will prevent new bacteria from colonizing and will dissolve over 10 days. The Bio Adhesive will begin as a purplish white film and will normally peel away piece by piece in about 3 days.

Rinse with Salt Water or (if provided Peridex™ ) nightly after brushing. Brush the teeth normally but avoid directly probing into the gum area as we have shown you. After 3 Days you may return to flossing.  If you use a WaterPik™  you may return to normal usage in the area after 10 Days.

Please return for your re-evaluation as of course observation and focused maintenance is the best way to treat and prevent Periodontal Disease.
