Arestin
The Arestin® Procedure we have completed with you is to treat the bacterial infection and heal a localized area in your gum tissue.
We have used multiple methods to remove the bacteria that invaded a difficult to clean location.
This FDA Approved treatment was developed to support the elimination of a bacterial biofilm and reattaching the gum tissue which has been breaking down. Early treatment can help avoid more invasive procedures than if left alone.
Expect 2 days of soreness that 2 or 3 Advil or 2 Tylenol can support. There will be a slight swelling that resolves in less than 3 days. The antibiotic will stay in this local area for 10 days. It will slowly dissolve as the tissue heals preventing new bacteria from colonizing the area again. If we placed a whiteish purple bioadhesive over the site, it will peel after a few days.
Rinse with Salt Water or Peridex™ if provided nightly after brushing. Brush the teeth normally but avoid directly probing into the gum area as we have shown you. After 3 Days you may return to flossing. If you use a WaterPik™ you may return to normal usage in the area after 10 Days.
Please return for your re-evaluation as of course observation and focused maintenance is the best way to treat and prevent Periodontal Disease.
