Lumineers are similar to veneers, minus the pain and surgery.  They are thinner than traditional veneers and are made to reflect light the way natural tooth enamel does.  The reason that they can be made so thin is because lumineers are extremely strong.

If you get lumineers, the dentist will not have to shave away any of your tooth as he would if you were to get traditional veneers.  A mold will be taken of your teeth, and you will decide along with the dentist what color you would like the lumineers to be.  The dentist will prepare your teeth and then the lumineers will be bonded to your existing teeth and set with a curing light.
